Therapeutic Massage

This is the most widely known form of massage. Massage oils are applied to the body through a range of continuous sweeping and gliding strokes. The client is undressed to a level they feel comfortable with. Modesty is respected by using towels, so that only the part of the body being worked on is exposed. The massage is performed on a professional couch that allows you to use a face-hole or an upper face-cradle and armrest. These increase comfort as there is no need to keep turning the head from side to side.
Benefits you can enjoy from therapeutic massage:
- Improved circulation and flow of lymph (the fluid between your tissues).
- Massage produces a higher flow of oxygenated blood that enriches the tissues of the body with nutrients and removes unwanted waste products.
- Massage helps to loosen tight contracted muscles and stimulates weak, flaccid muscles.
- As well as easing tension, elasticity of the muscles improves, and posture and movement are enhanced.
- Increased body metabolism.
- Balanced nervous system.
Sports Massage

Sports massage is similar to therapeutic in that it is performed on a couch with oil, but it uses stronger pressure to target tension within the deeper layers of the body musculature. This blend of remedial massage with focused stretching, pressing and kneading releases tension that superficial massage may miss.
Sports Massage
Sports massage can feel less relaxing than therapeutic massage, as a degree of tenderness is usually experienced. However, this is necessary in order for the body to release tension.
Client feedback and correct breathing are encouraged and monitored throughout the treatment to ensure that physical discomfort limits are not exceeded.
In addition to the benefits of therapeutic, sports massage provides:
- Reduced physiological fatigue and quick recovery after exertion. Sports massage can form an integral part of a training program by enhancing performance and preventing injury.
- Increased elimination of the waste products sports people have in their blood following exercise. Massage helps eliminate these faster than rest alone.
- Improved recovery of soft tissue injuries like sprains and strains, as well as reduced discomfort. Sports massage therefore complements an integrated rehabilitation program.
- Greater flexibility and elasticity of the muscular system.
